The AFRIAK Fellowship Program by CODESRIA invites African researchers to explore, document, and promote indigenous and alternative knowledge systems rooted in African traditions. This fellowship supports groundbreaking research that seeks to strengthen Africa’s intellectual heritage, challenge dominant knowledge paradigms, and reimagine the future based on indigenous perspectives.
AFRIAK empowers researchers to not only document traditional wisdom but also engage with communities, connect theory with practice, and advocate for the recognition of alternative ways of knowing.

🎓 Who Can Apply?
The program is open to:
- Early-career researchers, mid-career, and senior scholars based in Africa.
- Applicants with a strong interest in indigenous, alternative, or community-rooted knowledge systems.
- Individuals from diverse disciplines including social sciences, humanities, arts, science, and technology fields.
Note: Preference is given to projects that involve field research, community engagement, and use indigenous languages or methodologies.
